  • “Overcoming the Mess” Photo Project #2: The Living Room

For those of you who don’t know, yesterday my bathroom toilet overflowed and flooded my bathroom and half my bedroom.  That is why I didn’t post pictures of my living room yesterday.  Today I cleaned up the toys in the living room and vacuumed the floor.  I still need to use the carpet cleaner on the paint spots that are left, but I have to do that during the day because of the noise.  Here are some before and after pics.

  • Photo Project: Living Room… Oops!

Well… I was going to post before and after pics of my living room today… but the batteries in my digital camera are dead and need to be recharged.  So, it looks like I’ll be posting only the after pics tomorrow!

  • So I haven’t posted much recently…

It’s pretty sad when you’re too lonely/depressed/bored to post on your own blog…

I’ve been spending my days trying to get my relationship with Sebastian under control.  I think we’re doing better.  I haven’t yelled or spanked recently.  Sebastian hasn’t stolen or destroyed anything recently.  God is working on us.

I finally got to talk to Ben.  And then he called me again a couple of days later.  This is helping immensely with my loneliness.  I am somewhat “needy” (read: spoiled rotten) and it’s very hard for me to go without the attention of my husband.  So every little phone call helps.  Three weeks without a call is torture.

I’ve been visiting some of my old trivia chat buddies, which has helped some with the loneliness (and given me mega-doses of laughter), but I can’t spend oodles and oodles of time there because I have a house to take care of and kids to love on.  I don’t want to be one of those moms who spends more time on the computer than with her kids.  And I could easily become one of those moms.  I’d rather lose some sleep than lose time with my boys.

And speaking of sleep.  I’ve been trying everything to get my sleeping under control.  Some days I don’t go to sleep for hours and hours and then am exhausted the next day.  Other nights I go to bed on time, but toss and turn for hours and still feel like I could sleep 4-5 more hours after I wake up.  I’m a night-owl by nature, and NOT a morning person at all.  So, this week I’ve been trying to go to bed a lot earlier (between 8-10pm) and sleep for 3-4 hours, then get up while it’s still night and my “prime time” (between 2-4am).  Before daylight, I go back to bed and nap for a couple of hours and then get up with the kids.  This seems to keep me from staying up all night just to get to that “prime time” and also keeps me from sleeping late in the morning because I didn’t get enough sleep.  I don’t know what it is about those wee morning hours, but they are definitely my best time of day.

The house is still coming along… but between the paint incident and trying to get school done I haven’t had time to work on my photo project.  I promise I’ll be back on it next week though!

That’s about all I have for tonight.  Thanks for reading.

  • Quiz

    Stolen from mom’s blog…

What American accent do you have?
    Your Result: The Midland

“You have a Midland accent” is just another way of saying “you don’t have an accent.”  You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas.  You have a good voice for TV and radio.

    The West

    Boston

    North Central

    The South

    The Inland North

    Philadelphia

    The Northeast

  • 3..2..1…Lift Off!!!

I read a post on my favorite message board around 6:15 this evening containing a link to a live video feed of the space shuttle Endeavor‘s launch.

Sebastian and I watched with excitement and anticipation.  He named all of the parts of the shuttle… the orbiter, the rocket boosters, the external fuel tank, the main engines.  Then he said, “Mama, you know the rocket boosters will fall off first… then the external fuel tank.  The rocket boosters will fall back to earth and be used again, but the fuel tank will burn up.”  I was amazed at all that his young mind can hold.

Then the countdown!  And we have lift off!!  And the look on his face when he watched with his own eyes as the rocket boosters disengaged and fell back toward earth!!  Pure ELATION!

It was a moment I’ll always treasure.

  • If you could have only one super-power, what would it be… and how would you use it?

Mind-reading!  I’d start by using it on my husband to find out what he *really* thinks about things.  Then my kids, so I know when they’re fibbing.  Then, I’d take it Washington so I could expose all of the lying that goes on in our government!  That would probably take me the rest of my life…

I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!
